For those of you who just love a report to read and are working in heritage related projects, this document from Historic England is worth looking through. According to this, for every £1 spent as part of a heritage visit, 32p is spent on site and 68p in the local businesses; restaurants, cafes, hotels and shops! Report
South West Foundation has opened their small grant programme for small charitable organisations to apply for up to £1000. It’s for charities with annual running costs of less than £25,000 and the focus is on charities that address the needs of their community by engaging people in community activities either as volunteers or as people benefiting from the funded activities. We are now geared up for a major gathering of enterprising women from across rural Devon and Somerset, which will take place on 11th November 2014 in Cullompton.
On the day there will be:
- A variety of interactive workshops
- Inspiring guest speakers
- Q&A with a panel of experts
- ‘Open Space’ sessions where you set the agenda
- A market place showcasing local women’s business
This is a not to be missed one-off event which combines a brilliant networking opportunity, market stalls, training workshops and much more.
We are chuffed to be working with The Community Council of Devon to deliver this new programme in Somerset as part of the Heart of the South West Business Support Service. As part of the Rural Growth Network in Devon and Somerset (RGN) we are holding launch events in the evening in at The Warehouse Trust, Great Bow Wharf, Langport on the 30th September and Minehead on the 6th October. It sounds like the title of a Harry Potter book but it’s our local social enterprise and co-operative network making the really positive move to come under the Exeter Chamber of Commerce. We’re delighted! It’s great news to have the marketing and administration clout of The Chamber and members benefit from extra networking opportunities, more events and marketing opportunities to other Chamber members.
